Thom's room

Thomus scoffed once again. He was just trying to mock her and all of what she was telling him to do. Loosen up, go to a bar… it was never him. Fine, he`d go to a bar now and then, but he`d just sit alone, get a couple of drinks and then get the hell out of there. Why would he bother to change any of that.

”Yeah, and you have the capability of being annoying.” he told her, his voice obviously irritated. For a moment or two he contemplated just throwing her out of the room and then only talking to her when he actually needed something of her, because otherwise it was just pathetic.

Her next offer was even more annoyingly stupid. ”Oh, come on Danielle! What the hell would I do in a club? Haven`t I made it clear – I do not enjoy clubs. I do not enjoy crowds of people being drunk and sweating all over. Just take the hint for Merlin`s sake!” he was definitely losing his temper right there.

"Fine. Sorry I bothered!" Danielle snapped back.

She left him sitting there and instead sat down on the bed again. This time she was quiet. Apparently helping him out was out of the question. Boundary one not to cross. One of the many she had discovered lately, but whatever. If he wanted to be a grumpy loner then he could be. She would enjoy her small social life all by herself.

He was so annoyingly mood that it frustrated her. All remains of a normal converation were gone now that he decided to be so snappy. Jeez.

Thomus looked through the window when Danielle walked away. There was a tiny part in him that made him feel bad about what happened. Just the tiniest little part. She never knew her place, did she? She was always annoying him with her little comments and such. She still didn`t respect him.

Sometimes he felt like that was exactly the reason his father was the way he was. Edward never allowed anyone to walk over him and no one ever dared to. He was a respected man. And Thomus lacked that and therefore even the person he could boss around was still making fun of him. How did that even work?

With an annoyed sigh he glanced at Danielle. ”Oh Merlin, you look like someone took away your toy.” he mumbled, placing his glass on the table and stretching out his arms. ”I`m sorry, okay?”

Danielle was hiding a amused smile, because he was actually apologizing. He seemed sincere enough, but she had expected him to simply tell her to get out. Surprise surprise.

"Forgiven sir lies a lot." She couldn't help the jab. It was there to lighten up things of course, and she was the best at that. "Are you done being moody now? I thought of another hobby--traveling."

She didn't do much of it anymore, but she had seen her fair share of cool places. She was going to definitely work on that along with her failing social life. Hopefully.

Thomus had no idea what he expected with apology. Maybe that she would stop pouting and everything would be back to normal again. Whatever ‘normal’ was. He just knew that he didn`t really need to yell at her the way he did. But the apology was all that he was going to do about it.

At her words he rolled his eyes. ”I’m always moody. It`s my thing.” He said in a much lighter tone. Back to their dysfunctional conversation then. They both really sucked at keeping it ‘normal’.

”I`ve done my fair share of travelling.” he said simply. ”Most of my travels were done because I had to see some people or something, but there was this time when I have escaped Azkaban and was hiding out… seen a lot of cool placed back then.” He grinned. In all honesty, Thom had no idea if Danielle knew squat about his past.

"Sounds like a adventure," Danelle commented simply. "But what did you do to get yourself in Azkaban anyway? If I am allowed to ask that is."

She was careful not to get him all peeved off again. She wanted to still have a conversation, so she wasn't about to risk it by saying the totally wrong thing. It was odd being cautious with him and yet so forward. Dysfunctional. That sumed it up.

"I've been to Germany and Italy. So far that's it. Oh, and here. England doesn't count as home."

Danielle used the weirdest adjectives. Who could ever call escaping from Azkaban an adventure? The thing you could call it would be ‘amazing’ or ‘terrific’ or even ‘no way’, but not ‘an adventure’. She was weird in her own way, wasn`t she? Still, her question he didn`t found annoying or any other kind of bad. He could answer it with no trouble.

”Well, I was a Death Eater. And, as I suppose you know, they weren`t really nice to others… one day I got arrested. That was all.” Why should he bore her with the details of what he had done as a Death Eater, right?

When she said where she had been to he thought about it for a moment. ”Been there. Not really very exciting, is it? I`ve seen much better places than that. You should have gone to the North Pole instead… amazing place.” he grinned.

"I'll make a list for when I'm free," she told him, mirroring his grin. "If I ever am 'free' that is, according to you."

Danielle figured he had been joking when he said that, but still. She could have fun with it. She hadn't even been told how long this whole owed debt thing was going to go on for even. A couple months more? A year more? She didn't ever think about it.

"What about the states? Ever been there?"

”You should make a list. It would definitely help you to see the cool places instead of the boring places.” Thomus joked, still grinning. ”And yes, when you are free. I can`t let you on a vacation or something, how would that look? Maybe someday.” He smirked.

Of course he`d let her go sooner or later. Sometimes he thought that he`d let her go after the whole deal with Balthazar. It wasn`t like she was really needed for the other tasks – he could carry them out himself.

”Well, you know, I`ve been here and there, but never really stayed in one place for long. Was kind of on a run, never got to… ‘explore the culture’.”

"But you aren't really on the run now, so you could always take trips when-ever right? I mean okay when all the drama is done with of course," Danielle pointed out. "You don't have an excuse."

Unlike she did. If you didn't have an excuse then what was point in not doing something? You only lived once so you might as well make the best of it right? It was probably one reason she wasn't some whinny sissy about this whole deal thing. At least later in life she could look back and say hey, that bit of my life was pretty damn interesting. She liked that idea.

"Did you and Monica ever get along?" she asked randomly, her curiousity getting the best of her.

’I`m always on the run.” Thomus protested with some sort of a smile on his face. ”If you once do something bad and never pay for it, you are always on the run. If Aurors caught up with me it would be pretty bad.” He explained, but was absolutely calm. He lived most of his life that way so why should he really start caring about it?

That was one of the reasons why he couldn`t have an actual social life. In the eyes of society he was still a Death Eater, still someone who escaped Azkaban. That sort of things doesn`t disappear just because you stop doing it.

At her question he frowned and sat silent for a bit. Then finally shook his head. ”Not really. I was loved by my parents when I was growing up and she was always the one who could never do things right. And I looked at her in the same way.” he spoke slowly, thinking about every word. ”I don`t think she really likes me.” he then grinned.

"Well that's no way to live," Danielle stated simply. "Do you ever regret the stuff you did because of the consequences? I mean I hear some former death-eater's do, but other people just don't give a damn."

She wasn't sure why you would want to ruin your life like that, but she wasn't exactly doing legal things either. At least not for the majority of her life. This was...sort of a toss up between illegal and legal. She wasn't going to lable it.

"You guys had the oddest upbringing. I couldn't imagine all that pureblood crap. My dad could have cared less if I learned how to kill someone with a flick of my wand, or if I was going to grow up to be the baddest death-eater. It's crazy."

”I don`t mind my way of living.” Thomus answered in the same calm manner. ”Never knew any kind of a different life and I`m okay with the one I have.” he said plainly. ”And I`m one of those who don`t give a damn. I don`t regret my choices. If I wouldn`t have made them, my life would be just as screwed up as my sister`s.” He grinned to himself. ”I still believe in things I believed when I was a Death Eater.”

He very rarely thought about any of that stuff. It didn`t really matter that much to him, so he didn`t see a reason to bother himself with unneeded thoughts. So far it worked out pretty well.

The Pureblood upbringing always was a heated subject. Purebloods thought it was okay and everyone else found it horrible. Being a Pureblood himself he knew where he stood. ”There`s not so much crap at all. You just know that being a Pureblood you are superior to all others. That`s it.” He couldn`t keep the grin off his face as he said those words.

”I couldn`t imagine myself being a half-blood or, Merlin forbid, a Muggleborn. I`d probably just kill myself.”

"Fair enough," she appeased. "You have to do what you have to."

She agreed to that one fully. She was doing the same thing right? That's about all life was anymore was surviving which sucked. You had to throw in fun in there somewhere.

"Half blood isn't really noticeable. I mean no one pointed it out like purebloods do, but I don't really give a crap what I am," Danielle replied. "Would you have hired me if I was a muggleborn then?"

Thomus had always had his Pureblood pride and it wasn`t about to go anywhere away. He enjoyed it way too much. Of course, it was about time for him to find himself a wife, but there were so little Pureblooded women left that he wasn`t really sure what to do about it. That worried him from time to time.

What Danielle said was kind of truth. There were so little Purebloods left that halfbloods were no more frowned upon. They weren`t as respected, but if a family supported the right side, they were almost in the same level as Purebloods. Almost. ”Yes well, with more and more Purebloods going the wrong way, we must make some changes.” he said absently.

And then the next thing she said made him laugh. Very very hard. Was she serious? ”If you were a Mudblood I would have killed you for losing that book.” he exclaimed, still laughing. ”Wait, no, I would have killed you even if you hadn`t lost the book.”

"That's reassuring."

Danielle charastically rolled her eyes, finding the statement insensitive. It was just his insane views sure, but people were so over that stuff anymore. Why bother? Then again she hadn't come from that so how was she supposed to judge? Whatever.

"You ever think about...like changing your views? Just trying something different for a little bit?"

It probably seemed easier said than done, but who said you can't try at the very least? She was trying new things technically with this whole deal crap. Well, sort of.

Others always had hard time understanding the difference between Mudbloos and Purebloods and Thomus really didn`t think it was the time to try to explain. Things were the way they were and there was no changing them. Not that he saw any reason to change them anyway.

Danielle`s question made him laugh slightly to himself again. ”Why should I ever do that? I respect my family and I respect all the generations that lived exactly like I do today. Why should I try to change anything at all if I don`t see anything bad about it?” he wondered while looking at her.

”I mean… would you one day decide to just change your views for no reason at all?

"Just a thought," Danielle told him, shrugging her shoulder's.

Okay so she didn't have crazy pureblood ideals to deal with it, but still. She just didn't get it with all their weird rules essentially. Like...arranged marriages or the balls. It was so odd and old fashioned. She wasn't judging, but she also wasn't a fan of it if that made any sense.

"Well, here's to you finding a solution to the problems," she mended. "An easy solution or a difficult one. I suppose you're better at it when things are a total mess." She had an easy smile on her face as she said it too. She was being generally nice, but knowing her a witty remark was waiting in the wings.

Thomus just took a sip of his drink. It seemed like Danielle finally got it. And it was a good thing, cause he felt a little bit tired of trying to explain it all to her.

Her words made him laugh, but he raised his glass anyway. ”You know, I really feel like I`m better when everything around is a total mess. It`s pretty much my natural environment, and when things get calm and normal… it freaks me out.” He joked, smiling.

She nodded, understanding but not commenting further on that topic. Well, chaos was interesting depending on the situation.

"I think I'm going to head home," Danielle contemplated, setting the empty glass down on the table. With a grin she added, "Owl me?" Then as she headed to the door she called back in a teasing sing-song nature, "You know you want to."

She wasn't one for typical goodbyes so it was better. And it was more fun to joke around when she left than leaving on serious terms. He would be in contact when she was needed again anyways, and she would have to see Balthazar sometime before that anyhow.
